Red Hat Amphitheater Invites Community to Contribute to a Time Capsule

RED HAT AMPHITHEATER INVITES COMMUNITY TO CONTRIBUTE TO A TIME CAPSULE

RALEIGH, N.C. September 10, 2026 - The new Red Hat Amphitheater will commemorate the venue’s history with a time capsule containing mementos from the original Amphitheater. The capsule will contain things like a piece of the scrim banners from the sides of the stage, news clippings, apparel and merchandise, artist riders among other things.

The time capsule will document significant moments in the original venue’s history, from its opening in 2010 to the 2026 season before the venue is relocated. This capsule will contain the story of both the venue that has grown into a beloved Raleigh institution and the community that has grown around it.

“We’re excited to create this fun point of connection between those who know and love Red Hat Amp now, and all those to come who will know and love it in this new version” said Kerry Painter, executive director of the Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Complex. “All the great progress our Complex is making has also made us reflective and grateful for everything that’s led to the moment we’re now in. We want to honor that and share this special moment with the next generation.”

Survey is open until Friday September 18 for collection of items until Wednesday September 23.

The time capsule will be sealed and installed at the end of September. It is to be opened in 50 years, in 2076.
